Dr. Emily Richards, OD (known to her patients as Dr. K Richards to honor her grandparents) earned her Bachelor’s in Vision Science and Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University. She completed her advanced clinical training in complex ocular diseases at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the #1 ranked eye hospital in the US, where she was exposed to a vast array of complex ocular diseases.

It was during her time in the eye emergency department that she discovered a surprising trend: 50% of the emergencies she encountered were actually the result of severe, untreated dry eye. This realization sparked a career-long passion for specialized dry eye management.

After completing her clinical rotations at the Bend VA and Kaiser Permanente in the Portland metro area, Dr. K is thrilled to be back home in the Pacific Northwest. Originally from Sherwood, Oregon, she feels most at home among the evergreens and mountains. When she isn’t in the clinic, you’ll likely find her exploring the Olympic National Forest or out on the beautiful trails right here in Sequim.
